WHAT IS CONFIDENCE?

How do we acquire it and why are we attracted to people we believe have it?

Confidence is looked upon as something you have or do not have as part of your personality, as if you are born with it or not like your DNA.

But, in reality, it is a mental state you can develop if you are willing to commit to doing so.
Why would you put in the time or work to improve it?

Having confidence will free you to go and do things that right now you don't think are possible. Confidence gives you strength. It will attract people, opportunities and instill in others a feeling of trust in your abilities. So, the critical question is how do you develop confidence?
Good news, You already have it!

You might not have it when you want it or in the area you need it, but you have it.

Lion and Cat

Confidence is knowing that inner certainty when absolutely nothing can change it. No matter what happens, what anyone says or does, when you are confident in what you know, your inner voice cannot be changed regardless of any challenge.

For me this is when at 18 years of age I met my husband and within a few months knew he was the one for me, no matter how many times people said I was too young and not to rush.... we are celebrating 25 years married later this year!

A more relatable example for you might be when you consider the inventors and innovators of our time. When the Wright Brothers made the first manned flight, do you think that another person saying "You can't fly" would change what they knew? Their reply would have been, "I know I can. I just did" they were confident because they knew.

Ultimately, confidence is knowledge.

The Dictionary defines it as; "confidence noun (CERTAINTY) the quality of being certain of your abilities or of having trust in people, plans, or the future"

Contrary to popular belief, your confidence has very little to do with your intelligence. It has, however, everything to do with your faith and belief.

This explains why someone who may be intellectually inferior, steps out and confidently pursues their dreams while others with advanced academic qualifications conform and fearfully hold on to a life that they do not want or like, while any dreams they had fade away and die in their minds.

The more knowledge and understanding you have about yourself, the greater your overall confidence will be.

Self-confidence and a positive attitude in your ability to do and be whatever you desire will provide you with the key to freedom

What would you rate your self confidence right now? Humans think in images, so when you think about yourself, what image comes to your mind?

Train your mind to see yourself as successful, confident, happy, and healthy with your goals achieved. This is the person you are aiming to become, so use this image when you think about who you are!

Think about who inspires you and what qualities they have that you would like to emulate in yourself. Maybe it is how they dress, speak, conduct themselves, perform, or the way they make others feel. You can take elements of several people to build the image of the future you, have fun with it.

Know your own strengths and weaknesses. We all have areas of strength and weakness. Take a pen and put a line down on a piece of paper and list them. Naturally, you will find the weakness list easier to do and you will have more of them, but that is because you have not been used to focusing on and celebrating your strengths.

Here is the radical bit, ready... DON'T worry about your weaknesses, you can in time improve on them and, in the meantime, manage them.

Instead, focus on developing your strengths! Become a master at the things you already do well and enjoy. This will become the space you are happy, confident, and known for and you will exude confidence to everyone you come into contact with.

Train your mind to see the good in everyone.Treat every person you come into contact with as the most important person in the world. Give them your full attention and leave them with the impression of increased spending time with you.

Do not let another person influence how you see and treat them. Their speech and actions may indicate they do not like themselves. Love them anyway and look for the good and the positive attributes they have. Give sincere compliments and maintain a positive attitude towards them.

The secret and beautiful part of this third step is that the good you find in others is a reflection of the good that you see in yourself.

How does this raise your confidence? The knowledge that real confidence comes from within you will turn your dreams into your reality!
